Ancestral Postpartum Rituals, Self-care & Limpias

With great joy, I share this new offering inspired by my own lived experience of la cuarentena, as well as teachings received from Zapotec, Maya, and Nahua parteras and curanderas.

In this 3-hour class, we will explore the spiritual significance of the first 40 days postpartum and why many ancestral traditions regard this sacred window as a foundational period that can profoundly influence a woman's long-term physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being long after the postpartum period has passed.

Our wise women and elders remind us that the care we receive—and the care we offer ourselves—during these first weeks following birth lays the groundwork for our future health and vitality. It is understood that the way a woman is nourished, supported, and held during postpartum can shape not only her immediate recovery, but also how she experiences major life transitions such as menopause.

It is for this reason that these teachings are so important to keep alive. They are a living lineage of care, wisdom, and remembrance that have been carried by women for generations. By preserving and sharing these practices, we help ensure that future mothers, daughters, sisters, and communities may continue to be held and nourished.
